Mike and I met in 2016 and quickly fell in love. We also quickly found we both cared deeply about family and community. We wanted to do something to make this world a little better, a little brighter.
We took 3 months and wrote a business plan for a fast-casual restaurant with a mission to serve great food fast, make families happy, and do some good in the community.
In February 2020 we were turned down for a business loan to open our dream restaurant. Then, the world stopped the next month.
In late April, I turned to Mike and said, “What if we just do the community part of the business. We don’t need a loan for that.” Ideas started exploding like fireworks, and Ekim’s Place was born.
Mike's background in digital marketing and eCommerce on a multitude of sales platforms including Amazon, Wal-Mart, and eBay, mixed with my background in customer service and law (but maybe more importantly being a resident of Lakeland for almost 40 years) helped us build Ekim's Place from the ground up.
We truly care about Lakelanders and know that patronizing local businesses and taking care of each other is a small step to a better world. We are focused on Lakeland businesses, non-profits, news media and local events becoming more visible to the consumer on the WORLD WIDE WEB, educating Lakelanders about the importance of strong local businesses and a strong community, and creating long-term relationships.
